Donate Local's Youth Sports Program is designed to provide youth sports and youth activities programs with a low-stress fundraising platform that runs continuously, twelve months a year. There is no inventory to keep track of and no product to sell. No member of the Board needs to monitor sign-up forms, or hassle parents to get cooperation.  

The program was designed by people who understand that without a successful fundraising effort, the cost of youth sports and other youth activities would be too great for many families. We also accounted for the challenges youth sports programs sometimes encounter when administering labor intensive, volunteer run, fundraising efforts. The Donate Local Youth Sports Car Donation Program works because it doesn't make you work - the car donation program works for you.

Why a Car Donation Program Works for Youth Sports Fundraising

Virtually all youth activity programs, and certainly all youth sports programs, rely on financial assistance from the community to provide to kids well maintained, clean, safe facilities and playing fields​, equipment and uniforms, referees, officials and umpires, and all of the other activity specific needs tha arise. To keep sign-up fees for participating families at an affordable level, youth sports programs MUST raise funds to fill in the very big gaps.

Donate Local's Youth Sports Car Donation Program works for youth sports fundraising because all that is required of the youth sports leagues is outreach. Leagues are in contact with participating families regularly with sign-up notifications, calendar updates and special event reminders. It's as easy as including a Car Donation link in emails, Car Donation program information on the league website and occasional Car Donation posts on league the Facebook page (maybe a picture of a recently donated car with information on how it benefits the league).

How does Charity Car Donation work?

The process of donating a vehicle to benefit a specific youth sports organization is simple. Call Donate Local directly, or submit an online 'Schedule a Pick-Up' form, and indicate the organization to which you are directing the vehicle donation. Donate Local will schedule a free pick-up of the vehicle for a time that is convenient for you, and when the car is picked up, you will recieve a donation reciept to claim your tax deduction.

Donate Local will take the vehicle to their yard in Roseville and determine the best approach to maximize the donation to the youth sports organization. For HGTV watchers, the donated vehicle becomes a bit like a "Fixer" opportunity. Donate Local will look at options to increase the vehicles retail value.  That could mean some body work, a new paint job, lots of work by a mechanic under the hood, or even removing the engine and installing a brand new engine.

Once the vehicle is assessed, and the necessary work is complete, the vehicle is sold to a retail buyer and proceeds are disbursed to the youth sports organization.​

What Donate Local Does Not do

One of the important advantages of working with Donate Local is something they DO NOT do.  Unlike most charity car donation programs, Donate Local DOES NOT simply deliver donated vehicles to a wholesaler, or a wholesale auction yard.

Donate Local puts real elbow grease into every salvageable vehicle we receive. Donate Local really does purchase brand new vehicle engines to install into donated vehicles when it's possible to create value in a donated vehicle, and we regularly have body work and new paint jobs done on donated vehicles. What that means to youth sports organizations is more donation dollars per donated vehicle.

Bigger tax deductions for donors

For those that donate a vehicle to a youth sports organization, the primary reason for the donation is to benefit the kids participating in the youth sports program. But, the tax deduction is a kinda nice bonus.

Well, when Donate Local fixes up a donated vehicle, the value of the donated vehicle goes up.............and guess what goes up with it. That's right, the size of the tax deduction available to the donor. When the vehicle sells after Donate Local has done their magic, the donor receives a supplemental donation receipt which could entitle the donor to thousands of dollars in tax deductions.
